Summer Reading is Here!

When I was a kid, I would go to the Pine Street Library for summer reading. For those who were around then you may remember the white wire chairs with a paper thin pad as a "cushion". Comfort at its best! My book of choice for summer reading? Encyclopedia Brown books. I loved Encyclopedia then and I love him today. I wanted to be a boy detective.

Summer reading kicked off today. There are programs and activities throughout the county at each of our locations. You can find an up to date list by going to our website: http://www.infodepot.org/ . or click here: Children, Teens, and Adults.

The Libraries will offer Summer Reading for all ages: children, teens, and adults...minus the white wire chairs with a paper thin "cushion".

Great Works of Literature as Text Messages

This month's edition of Esquire has a fun little feature, "Great Works of Literature as Text Messages" compiled by Mike Sachs and Teddy Wayne. Here they are:

The Catcher and the Rye: u r all phonies except my lil sis n ded bro :(
The Great Gatsby: Rich people r mt
Leaves of Grass: O! Etc.
Animal Farm: Pigs >= other animals
A Tale of Two Cities: bst of tyms, worst of tyms, mostly worse

I must admit that I had to use a text message translator on a couple of these. I used: http://www.lingo2word.com/translate.php .
